I Have a Dream

On a hot day in August, 1963, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. mesmerized the crowd of over 200,000 who had Marched on Washington demanding civil rights. They were young and old and came from various classes and religious backgrounds. More than a quarter of them were white.

Why did Dr. King choose the Lincoln Memorial to give this address?

What promises has the United States made and broken?

What is the 'Dream' to which Dr. King keeps referring?

Why had it taken over 60 years to end segregation?
